Ernst Barlach (1870-1938) Is Undoubtedly One Of The Most Famous Sculptors Of German Expressionism. Mainly With His Wooden Sculptures And Bronzes Barlach Established An International Reputation. Besides His Sculptures, He Rejects A Diverse Repertoire Of Work. At The Beginning Of The War Barlach Was Captured By National Enthusiasm; Very Soon His Enthusiasm Turned To A Shock. Sculptures Were Banned In 1937 By The National Socialists As “Degenerate” And Confiscated. Although Radically Isolated From His Audience, He Was Highly Regarded In Professional Circles. Some Of His Works Were Posthumously Presented In The Documenta I (1955) And Documenta Iii (1964) In Kassel.
