The French Sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye Was Born In 1795 In Paris. Already At The Age Of 14 Years He Began An Apprenticeship As A Metal Engraver But Could Not Complete This Due To The Compulsory Recruitment To The Army. In 1814 The Young Artist Was Given Permission To Leave The Army And Started A Second Apprenticeship As A Chiseler. After Accomplishing The Apprenticeship, Barye Worked As A Student For Francois Joseph Bosio.
