Alfred Stevens Was A British Sculptor Who Was Born On January 18, 1818 In Dorset. He Was The Son Of A Painter And Therefore Got In Touch With The Subject Of Art At A Very Young Age. Because Of His Talent He Studied Art At The École Des Beaux-Arts In Prais. In 1833 He Left Home And Went To Several Places In Europe Like Rome, Venice And Milano And Also Worked One Year For The Artist Bertel Thorvaldsen. Back In England, Stevens Started To Teach At The “School Of Design” And Was The Head Of A Bronze Manufacture. Later He Was Awarded With The Contract Of Building The Wellington Monument Inside The St. Paul’S Cathedral. Creating This Monument Almost Influenced The Whole Life Of Stevens Who Died On Mai 1, 1875 For Unknown Reasons At His Studio In London.
