The Sculpture “Behold The Boy” Was Designed After An Idea Of The Italian-French Sculptor Medardo Rosso. It Shows The Head Of A Young Boy, That Somehow Is Covered And Therefore It Seems Vague, Flat And Fleeting. Individual Marks Of The Child Are Hidden Underneath The Surface Of A Cloth. The Observer Can’T See Any Facial Expression, So The Interpretation Of The Bronze Bust Depends On The Story Behind The Sculpture. With The Bust Rosso Preserved A Situation That Happened To Him In 1906. He Saw Alfred William Mond, The Son Of An Industrialist In London, Looking Through The Window, Half Covered By The Curtains. He Wanted To Capture The Moment, When The Child Is Stepping Out Of The Floating Cloth. He Succeeded To Create The Sculpture Realistic And At The Same Time Mystic In Only A Single Sitting. The Bust Was First Exhibited In Paris And Consists Of 100% Fine Bronze.
