The Bronze Sculpture L’Air Is A Replication Of The Eponymous Work Of French Sculptor Aristide Maillol. L’Air Is Concerned With The Classic Values Of Maillol’S Artistic Style, Which Conceptualises The Female Nude In Monumental Three-Dimensional Shapes Of Perfected Symmetry.
By Giving Up Details And Individual Features, His Nudes Radiate An Aura Of Limitless Calmness And Harmonic Balance. However, His Sculpture L’Air Differs Immensely From The Classic Motif Of The Female Nude In One Aspect. It Can Be Ascribed To A Phase Of Maillol’S Career Which Focuses On An Intensive Interaction Between The Human Body And An Imagined Force Of Nature. Therefore, L’Air Becomes A Rather Special Piece Of The French Sculptor.
L’Air Is Only Available In An Exclusive, Limited Edition Of 20 Items, Which Are Numbered Individually And Furnished With The Adopted Signature – A. Maillol – Of The Original Piece.

Aristide Joseph Bonaventure Jean Maillol (1861-1944) Was A French Sculptor, Painter And Graphic Artist Who Was Said To Be The Most Important Counterpart Of Auguste Rodin In France And Who Had A Long-Lasting Influence On European Statuary Art In The First Half Of The 20Th Century. Consequently, Aristide Maillol Is Rated As One Of The Most Important Pioneers Of The Contemporary Sculpture.
As A Painter, Maillol Did Not Follow The Model Of His Teacher Cabanel, But Was Rather Influenced By Pierre Puvis De Chavannes And Paul Gauguin, Knowing The Latter Personally. In 1892, He Joined The Artist Group Nabis, Whose Decorative And Large-Format Art Complied With His Paintings Of That Time. In The 1890S, Maillol Turned To The Creation Of Tapestries, Followed By Working As A Sculptor From The Middle Of The 1890S Onwards. Some Of His Most Central Works Are: La Méditerranée (1905), La Nymphe (1930), Vénus (1928) And L’Air (1932).
